On 25 May 2025, the Hidroeléctrica de Cahora Bassa School marked Africa Day with vibrant celebrations that brought together the entire school community — students, teachers, staff, parents, guardians, and the school administration — in a day dedicated to unity, culture, and African identity.

The event aimed to celebrate Africanism, highlight African culture, and contribute to the cultural and personal development of students. By fostering pride and a sense of belonging, the school seeks to support students in becoming confident individuals and to encourage continued academic engagement, helping to prevent dissatisfaction and school dropout.

Throughout the day, various cultural activities took place, including traditional food fairs, handicraft exhibitions and sales, as well as performances of dance, music, and plays that reflected the rich diversity of African peoples. These initiatives served to deepen the appreciation of African traditions and history, while promoting intercultural knowledge among all participants.

The celebration also served as a moment to remember Africa’s struggle against colonialism and apartheid, inspiring future generations to take part in building a more united, just, and prosperous Africa.

With this initiative, the school reaffirmed its commitment to multicultural education, respect for diversity, and the development of a global awareness, making Africa Day a time of celebration, reflection, and hope.
