The Cahora Bassa Hydroelectric School is a private institution that provides primary and secondary schooling and offers Cambridge System Qualifications at the two levels mentioned above. The School is governed by the legislation established by the Mozambican State, through the Ministry of Education and Culture in accordance with Ministerial Decree 119/2014 of 13 August, as well as the rules and procedures of the Cambridge Qualifications Model.

Also, under the Basic and Secondary Education Regulations, the School falls under Type C (Art. 8, paragraph b) of the Organization and Functioning of the Basic Education Regulation and Art. 8 paragraph c) of the Organization and Functioning of the Secondary Education Regulation.
